    Description

    This position works closely with the banks Chief Appraiser and will be involved in frequent in-depth underwriting discussions with lenders and senior credit management regarding real estate taken as collateral. This role experiences high volumes of production and is held to a variety of service level agreements to ensure our sales force holds a competitive advantage in the market place.

    Primary responsibilities include: Bid, order and review commercial real estate appraisals on commercial and residential loans. Render opinions on the quality and reliability of new and existing file appraisals per policy guidelines, and provide opinions as to the quality and marketability of loan collateral. Assist in maintaining bank databases on property transactions and trends. Assist in underwriting environmental due diligence for commercial loans. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and bank policy. Partner with lenders and credit managers in order to provide high-quality consultation for informed and prudent loan decisions.

    Education:

    Undergraduate degree in business administration, finance, accounting or similar field.

    Experience:

    Requirements include: 5+ years of experience in the valuation of commercial real estate. State General Appraiser Certification (Mo, KS, or IL preferred). MAI designation preferred, or Appraisal Institute Advanced Associate with all coursework completed. Strong preference will be given to those with prior bank appraisal review experience who are familiar with bank regulatory requirements. Prefer knowledge of environmental regulations and understanding of site assessment reports. Computer experience with Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

    NORTH AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK - APPRAISAL MANAGEMENT ANALYST

    Job Description

    Order both residential and commercial appraisals.  Review all appraisal order requests to insure accuracy; determine the appropriate type of appraisal to order and select a qualified appraiser who can met the required delivery time at the best price to accommodate the loan dynamics.  Responsible for conducting reviews of commercial and residential appraisal reports to support lending decisions and determine if the report meets regulatory guidelines and adheres to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).  Assist with periodic update to the Bank’s Appraisal Policy to insure that it reflects changes in federal and state regulations impacting appraisals. Monitoring of the FDIC and OCC laws and standards as well as professional standards as promulgated by the Appraisal Sub-committee (ASC) of the FFIEC and The Appraisal Foundation for USPAP is required.  Assist with the monitoring and maintenance of the Bank’s Approved Appraiser List. Includes verifying license status, checking for disciplinary action taken by the respective Appraisal Board for infractions of the USPAP standards, reviewing resumes and evaluating sample appraisals as needed.  Provide advice and training to bank personnel and management as needed.  Address questions, and assist with problem solutions as necessary.  Maintain all forms used in conjunction with the appraisal ordering and review process.  Other duties as assigned by management. 

    Skills/Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field required
    • 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • State Certified Residential or General Appraisal Certification is required
    • Effective business communication skills (both oral and written)
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills – must be detail oriented and thorough
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
    • Ability to work with all internal and external customers
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of algebra
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical financial applications
    • Ability to interpret financial institution regulations and a variety of business instructions
    •  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists
